so derek, cherry was wondering, if you were a a poptart, what flavor would you be? she's really happy that cherry is your favorite flavor. next year during the summer, we are going on a country wide road trip to help promote our band and for fun. so if you guys are still in Cali, we'll try to find you, say hi, and give you a complementary box of cherry poptarts(or just maybe one crazy cherry poptart)! if you're out touring, well, we'll be following you!

yeah, the band thing for us is going pretty good. right now, me and cherry are just covering some songs, most are smile empty soul. we are acually sounding pretty good. yesterday there was a big family argument, so me and cherry went to her room, put in smile empty soul, plugged in the amp, and just screamed. it sounded farely good too.

I just thought that I'd tell you guys that Mom and I picked up my Smile Empty Soul ice cream cake today!! It's awesome. The picture is a little discolored for some reason and my mom put "Happy Birthday Samantha" on it when I told her NOT to... but it's still uber! :P I love it. I even bought a camera today to take a picture of it! Heh, and when I get the pics developed, I'll be sure to put it up on the site, Derek. ;)

Ok I know this is kind of lame but I love giving people a new perspective than the one their used to. If the entire extistence of the
Universe: 15 billion years = 1 year
Our galaxy system, which includes all planets revolving our sun, has been around 9 months of that one year. Even more mind boggling is thinking that of this one year a human life span(average 75 years) is less than a second. Now all the sayings about short life is make sense. With this new perspective go into each day knowing that you have less than a second to live.

Wow, you read all of these comments, Derek? You guys are truely some of the few guys in bands who go down to be with the fans. Yeah, you love the fans. You guys have some real true fans on this board, i guess you could call it that. These fans of Smile Empty Soul sure are dedicated to you guys. I love you a lot but I don't think my love you is ANYTHING compared the love you have from these people who've commented before me and the ones after this. It's really amazing.

Trapt and Puddle of Mudd are gonna be there. anyways, the show goes down on oct. 9th in Beaumont, Tx. So far my birthday has been pretty good! My best friend Dee and I went to Busters (an arcade). I even took pictures of my SES cake this morning. Haha, guess what, though. Of course, you all know that I bought Disturbed's CD "The Sickness" for myself yesterday. :D Then my Dee got me The Rasmus's CD "Dead Letters" in which she thinks I'll like (I've never heard of 'em before). She also got me a Spider-Man "Fearsome Foes" comic book which is OH SO uber. Then from my parents I got: Skillet's CD "Collide", Steriogram's CD "Schmack", A Perfect Circle's CD "Thirteenth Step", a scrap book, a light box (which'll help me ink my sketches onto nice clean paper), men's Spider-Man sleep pants (comfy, comfy), and a Spider-Man T-shirt. Man, people must know that I love Spider-Man! :P Hehehehe, I love all of my gifts. Oh, but I'll get even more tomorrow from my brothers...

Okay, so ENOUGH about me, how are you three guys doin'? Are you having a good time at home? Are you all resting up well? I hope you are! :) Hey, did you guys know that you cross my mind atleast once a day? Usually it's MORE than once, but you know, whatever... I like to wonder what it would be like to spend a whole day with you three. Or maybe one day with EACH of you. Ryan, have you done any graffiti lately? Man, I do not understand how people can do that stuff so perfectly with spray paint! It's crazy; I'd never be able to do that... Anywho, do you ever play any RPG video games? I don't often because I usually don't like the way they're set up, but I'm a fan of the Mana series. I was kind of wondering if you've played Sword of Mana on the GBA? I sort of want it and I asked for it for my birthday, but I'm not sure if one of my brother's have gotten it for me. We'll see tomorrow I guess.

heya. i just got back from a yearbook workshop, have to go this whole week. i thought it would be easy but obviously i was wrong. there are sooooo many things you need to learn to make a good yearbook. but im glad to be a part of the yearbook staff, the ppl are really nice and 6 of my other friends are also in it too, so im sure this year will rock. oh yeah, we had to make captions for these 2 pictures that the instructor drew, one was of a guy running up a hill. we had to give him a name and guess what our group named him? yup yup, Derek Gledhill! it fits perfectly coz you love to work out and run. man its 98 degrees here, hahaha, thats funny coz im talking about the temp. but thats the name of a boy band, and the ppl up there were talking about boy bands. lol, i amaze myself. have fun on those electronic drums! hehehe.

It's 11:14 pm, I'm somewhat tired lol, and I wrote earlier today, but. I consider myself a fan now, so I can write here when ever. Sean, I am trying to get a band started, not nescessarally a girls band, but, I reallydon't have the guts. I played drums for a year, and I am now learning how to play guitar, my father is teaching me since he used to play guitar in band way back when. all I can really do right now is sing, and even then I have trouble even singing in front of friends and family. I have been on stage for atleat 2 plays, and at least 3 talent shows. I won 1st place for singing last year, but I was so nervous, and I forgot a line in the song because a bunch of my friends made signs for me out in the audience, so i laughed, cause it was so crazy. Derek, My step-brother plays drums at our school band, because really thats all they have and really all they want to teach us is marching band music...but he really loves like...metallica, and Guns and roses, and all the old and newer music. (specially the drum solos,)
Plus, Your pretty sexy, not like it matters..you'probably never come to massachusettes, and if you do, I hope you ontact me. Ryan, My friend are in a band, they're called Sundown, and they play at Pearl street, almost maybe every other weeks, and theyre pretty good, they play with theyre own kinda (how do u put it, ) style?..with a little bit of korn sound. plus theres a guy in the band he plays Guitar, and I've liked him since I was in 8th grade,,,and he lives down my steet. Neways lol.(not the point),I try to encourage them, because they want more for theyre band, but they are so lazy, I heard one of ur interviews, on music videos.com, and it said u have to hand out the tickets and all that stuff when u were first getting started, wel they have to also, and they get frustrated, because,in the end they never get out all their tickets...i dunno, i guess im trying to give tem advice that im trying to ask for from you guys. I think this website is awesome, you guys seem wicked dedicated to it, you have a journal, that you guys write in yourself, (not the ppl you work for) you give shout outs to almost everyone who writes to you, and you even have journal boards where you talk to us, which i think is wicked cool, well, I'm off, hope to hear from you guys, if not, no worries.

I'm good. I just got done watching Rockstar, and Im about to go watch Boondock Saints. I love those movies!! Derek...whats your favorite movie? It sucks that i missed the show in OKC! October 7th!! Sweet 16!! Derek Im sorry that you feel wird about not being on tour anymore, but you will adjust! I bet being a Rockstar is great! The closest thing to a rockstar that I will get is a groupie. Fun for me! It;s cool though. Ive always wanted to go on the road with a band. And be like an...on hand photographer! Thats my dream! I feel like I can Totally relate to Bottom of a Bottle, I don't really do drugs, I do drink though....(well I guess that could be considerd a drug), But I understand that the song isnt meaning it's all about drugs and being wasted, I mean every body has something or another that they are addicted to. It could be a drug, love, a guy/girl...and all these things can be hard to deal with. But sometimes, you just need something else, to make you happy, when you can't make yourself happy. and even then you fall back into which ever state you were in, angry, upset, sad..I dunno, all I do know is I can relate to a lot of your songs.

OMG!! THE CONCERT KICKD ASS DEREK!!! It was so much fun. We missed Strata play though, GRR! We walked in the very begining of Moments in Grace. OMG, they are so good! Ok so we watched there whole set, I dont' think I even looked at anything but the stage the whole time! Me and Kelby were like the lead singer is SOO HOTT! And after they got done, we got his autograph and a picture..AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..Ok and then, kelby fell in luv w/ Eric from Strata. He wrote this kick ASS heart w/ a banner on it that said Strata. I can't believe that I actually bumped into Hrag. I was like HOLY SHIT! AHAHAH.. I didn't even get a pic. w/ Hrag, I was waitin and after a while, I was like, ok lets jus go, I guess he went and is gonna stay back stage a while. So we walk out, and go back to the car building, and I see him walkin down the street. I was like HOLY SHIT, THERE HRAG!! then i was like, holy hell holy hell holy hell, my mom was like watch ur mouth gurl..ahahaha..And by the time we got the balls to go ask him for anything, he was gone..AHHHH..Ok well c ya man

Dude... I am so fucking creeped out right now... I swear, my eye is twitching, no j/k but really, it CREEPS THE HELL OUT OF ME when people are talking about things they've done with their friends, and they have the same names as me and my friends do... If you understood that at all, lol, I'm talking about that Tara girl who posted a while ago, and was talking about something she did with her friend Heather... *shudders* Okay, yeah, I know I'm odd =D.

Not much going on with me right now... Just got back from my dad's house, which is boring as shit, and getting ready for the Evanescence and Breaking Benjamin concert tomorrow night. Shit, that'll be awesome! I love Breaking Benjamin, you should really tour with them sometime (haha I'm sure you're sick of hearing that), but seriously they're one of the most awesome opening bands I have ever seen live. Alright, I'll go now, but I want to see another entry before I get back next Monday!!! LoL I understand if there isn't one, but come on, that'd be a perfect end for a vacation!!!

Hey Derek! How has it been going? It must be nice being in a band. You are making me jealous. I wish I knew what that was like. Instead, I work retail, punch a clock, and do meaningless work for demanding people. I guess I can't complain, though. The job is getting me through college (and paying for my concert tickets!). I leave for school in two weeks. I am kind of excited because I know I am almost done! In three semesters, I will finally have my degree and head off to graduate school to get my certification in genetic counseling. Isn't the awesome? I think it is.
